Spring Break

Adventures always begin in the airport. I have pics of Madelynne enjoying trips and airport discoveries at Jax's age, so my focus this round to Indianapolis to visit Grandma Sue was on Jax's momentous milestone: his last "Free" ride as the lap child.

The waiting game consists of:

Being on our devices while we waste time.

Or checking out the planes parked at the terminals.

Or looking at the planes through spy holes in the seats.

Watching the workers load and unload the plane.
And flying consists of entertainment, sleep, and a few minor meltdowns:
Watching Coco
Holding my hand at take off.

We got to Indy the day before Easter and Grandma Sue, Aunt Kristie, and cousin Hollie had the eggs and dye ready to be decorated by the kids. Jax wasn't that interested, but Madelynne and Hollie had a blast.

Getting ready to dunk hers.

Watching Aunt Kristie prep the cups with dye and vinegar.

The girls in action.

Finished product.

Easter Sunday we ventured to mass and then enjoyed a semi-nice day hiding eggs, playing with bubbles, and enjoying each other's company.

The kids in their Easter best.

Checking out his new sunglasses.

Jax finding a few with Papa's help.

We ventured to the Children's Museum which was, by far, one of the best Children's Museum's Brad and I have been to. It was five levels of diverse and fun activities, including a slide from the third floor to the first. There was a new outdoor sports portion, but the weather was being bipolar, so we didn't get a chance to check it out. The kids had a blast and the adults were tuckered out by the end of the day.

Brad, the kids, and his sister ventured to Tennessee to visit his uncle. The best image was this one:
Jax was way more interested in the Choo Choo then being in the pic.
The next day we ventured to the zoo. It was bitter cold and it flurried snow. I had to keep reminding myself it was spring, even though it felt like winter. The zoo was fun. We enjoyed the inside exhibits where we remained warm and liked the dolphin show and orangutans best.

Baby was climbing all over the place.

Love a good aquarium silhouette shot

Love the cardinal

He was singing such a sweet song to us when we arrived at the zoo!

The rest of our time was spent at Grandma Sue's. Kristie and Hollie attempted to leave Thursday, but Kristie's car ended up acting up on her so she had to turn back around to figure things out and stay an extra day. Hollie was secretly excited that the car broke down, she told us later that day when we were at the park. I think she had fun hanging out with her cousins. The park was  blast, even in the cold.

Swinging

Determined

We did make one trip to meet up with a friend of mine who was pregnant with her little guy the same time I was with Jax. It's fun to see how different the two of them are now.

However, most of the time we just hung out with family. It was great spending time with Great Grandma aka Grams, Grandma Sue, Kristie, and Hollie.

Updates and Such

It's been sometime since I last updated the blog, but figured I better get on it. The school year is in full swing and we've been busy, as usual doing all the things we do between parenting, enjoying our weekends, and routine. No major projects are holding us back this year, so we've been trying to soak up every ounce of the ending seasons as we can. Fall was slow to start here, but her beauty and glory haven't left and I am sure will stick around well into November. That is the fortunate part of the PACNW. Here are the highlights up to this point: August Jax started Preschool and Maddy is in the 3rd grade. So far, they are doing well. Jax loves going to school and is always eager when he gets to "ride the bus to Maddy's school." Here are their annual school pics: Jumping into 3rd Grade September We enjoyed a few adventures, from hiking, whale watching, and camping. We camped at our favorite spot along the Strait...

For the future's not ours to see...

There is so much going on in our world today that is negative. I get irritated with watching the news and seeing such drama the media portrays. I never really paid that much attention to it until I had Madelynne and then everything changed about my perception of the world. It is scary, out there, when all you want to do is shelter and protect your little one. Maybe I am coming to the terms with growing older and realizing that life on this great planet is limited and to make the most of it. Being a SAH mom has really caused me to think and reflect on so many different things. It hasn’t always been sweet, happy thoughts, either. I know a few weeks ago I was really concerned for the end of the world and for my daughter and future generations that have to endure such drastic changes that will continue to occur over time. I find myself getting caught up with questions about my faith and my journey as a Christian and feeling lost and not knowing who to turn to or talk to about such conflict...

To thy own self be true

Dear Baby Schroeder: There is something you need to know about your mom and dad, and you will probably realize this as you grow up, too. We are crazy and adventurous, and life never ceases to surprise us. Hopefully, in the next two or three years, when you’re finding your groove and getting settled into this world, we will be settled some place and not be bouncing around like nomads. By that time, we hope to be debt free, so we can take you to all the places we want to go, and where you will be old enough to remember it all. In honor of Polonius from Hamlet , (yes, your mom’s favorite Shakespearean play), If I could give you some advice, as to avoid the mistakes your father and I have made, it would be this: 1.        Always follow your gut instinct. Easier said than done, but if something doesn’t feel right, then listen to that voice inside you that says so. It’s usually right. 2.        Trust only a select few. I really ho...
