Projects

Aside from devoting myself to exercise as one of my resolutions this year, I have also decided to partake in two activities that I am easing myself into. Brad and I have had a hobby of photography for some time and he bought me Adobe Photoshop last year for Christmas, which gets used, but not as much as I would like to. Therefore, one of my goals, thanks to Pinterest, was to do a 365 Photo Project, where you take a photo a day. I had heard about it from one of my former co-workers and thought, why not? It makes me capture the little things and with daily prompts, I'm able to really look for what the prompt is asking me to find. I don't necessarily follow the prompts, as I try to find pics of Maddy or my family, but  I have enjoyed a few of the prompts so far. New Year's Trip!

Since our trip to Florida for Christmas fell through, and we have decided to venture there for Spring Break, we decided that it would be a good opportunity for me to go to Colorado and enjoy some time with my family, as I won't see them until summer. We debated on all kinds of ways to get there and finally settled on a pretty inexpensive plane ticket through Priceline. We lucked out, for sure! Needless to say, Madelynne and I had a GREAT time. She did end up getting a stomach bug that lasted a whole 12 hours, and somehow it bypassed me. But I am OK with that. She was not happy about the fact that she was throwing up, and it ended up being a cuddle-with-mom kind of day. It worked out because I was able to get some grading done and work on my PhD stuff, while she watched cartoons and dozed in and out of sleep. A Quiet Christmas

Our plans fell through this year due to finances, so Brad and I stayed home in Washington and enjoyed Christmas with just the two of us and Maddy. Our day was filled with Skype and calling family, and enjoying some down time before Maddy and I headed to Colorado to ring in the New Year. Madelynne still doesn't quite understand the relevance behind Christmas, but she was excited to finally open presents, after they had sat under the tree taunting her for so long. She got some new clothes, books, and art supplies (the cool no-mess ones from Crayola) and a rocking chair from Grammy Sue, since she loves to "Rock-Rock" with mom in mom's recliner/rocker. The experience of opening gifts was a bit overwhelming and she had a few moments of throwing a temper-tantrum, I guess gearing us up for the "terrible twos" to be...Overall, it was a successful, quiet day celebrating love, family, and the birth of Jesus---just the three of us.
