Halloween!

Halloween was loads of fun, as usual! The Phillips put on a kicking costume party, where our friends dressed to impress. Our Schroeder family dressed as the Labyrinth characters: Brad, the Goblin King, Madelynne, an owl, Jaxson, Toby, and me, Sarah. It was too fun! We decided to go with a semi-medieval theme for our pumpkins this year, too. Needless to say, it was a great Halloween!

Fall 2016

Along the Discovery Trail The Dungeness Fallen Heart shaped leaves Along the Dungeness R.I.P. Sweet Angel Up to no good.  Fall is a unique time of year because, at it's roots, it's macabre, really. We are in wonderment of the beauty of changing leaves that go from their new state of green, to golds, then browns, until they fall to the ground and decay. It's a natural cycle, right? It's something we all will inevitably experience and go through: death. In turn, fall's transition to winter, where death lingers as a reminder that life is cyclical, is truly beautiful. For us, the past two years, we have dealt with untimely death's of two our beloved fur babies, within a year apart of each other. This year it was Angel. It is difficult to transcribe how much a feline friend means to me. I have lost many pets in my time. However, the litter we adopted from Florida have been a strong force since the first day we ha

Can't forget the muse

Of course, I can't forget my muse, the lovely Miss Madelynne. Into her third month of school and she is making great strides with learning. She is pretty math minded, which is great. She does get frustrated when it comes to certain aspects of her homework, but it will get easier, I'm sure, as she continues to work hard at her writing skills. She had fun with Grandma and Grandpa when they visited and is looking forward to visiting them at Christmas. She was an owl for Halloween, which fit into our Labyrinth theme quite well. She loved gutting the pumpkins this year, although Brad was in charge of decorating them. She had a rough earlier part of the week with the loss of our cat, so it's been a rough one for us all, going through bouts of the grieving process. Needless to say, other than dealing with her strong will and independence, she's definitely a little force to be reckoned with.  Sitting and waiting for the ferry.  Face painting at the Crab Fes

6 Months Gone!

Boy, life sure keeps us busy! With school, work, and some play, we haven't had much time to really think. Needless to say, here we are already into November! Mr. Jaxson sure is growing into quite the little man. He is not quite sitting up by himself yet, but can sit if you hold his fingers. He officially met Grandma and Grandpa for the first time, which was a special treat for him. He loves solid foods, even when he scrunches up his nose at their odd or unpleasant tastes, he'll eat it. He avidly rolls from one side of the room to other. He is constantly laughing at his sister. His laugh is truly the best and quite contagious.  He loves to talk and discover the world around him.
