Mini Adventures

As the "Real life" post before kind of explained, we haven't been up to a lot. We have been busy with our jobs and daily routines. However, we did make an escape in February and went on a few small adventures that included some Geocaching and exploring the lovely Peninsula we live on. Oh, and bummed around the house, too.

When we bummed around the house, Maddy pretended to be a super hero, which included jumping on the bed.

And we adventured to find Geocaches at one of our favorite places to ride our bikes.

The look right before he laid down in the puddle, after Brad and I both said, "Don't even think about it."

Our treasures sometimes include cool forest critters, like this orange-belly newt.

Other adventures were our annual field trip to Olympia, the State Capitol, with our 8th graders.

We took a trip to the Northwest Trek and stayed the night at Great Wolf Lodge. It was  blast, even though it was snowy and cold.

I think we could have sat and watched the river otters for hours. They were so fun.

Beautiful alpha wolf.

Moose!

Tram ride.

I was a happy camper.

Watching Papa outside on the lawn mower.

Days getting longer, means more time outside.

And in the hammock.

And at the beach.

Writing on the beach.

Pretending to be a pirate.

Checking out the neighbors farm animals.

Hanging on the fence.

Showing Pup-Pup what is outside.

"Mom, you're the best mom." It says.

Baby shrimp, most likely.

Jax I love you, this one says.

The silent temper tantrum=just kicking  his feet.

Hammock time!

I spy...

Long eyelashes, being my muse.

Updates and Such

It's been sometime since I last updated the blog, but figured I better get on it. The school year is in full swing and we've been busy, as usual doing all the things we do between parenting, enjoying our weekends, and routine. No major projects are holding us back this year, so we've been trying to soak up every ounce of the ending seasons as we can. Fall was slow to start here, but her beauty and glory haven't left and I am sure will stick around well into November. That is the fortunate part of the PACNW. Here are the highlights up to this point: August Jax started Preschool and Maddy is in the 3rd grade. So far, they are doing well. Jax loves going to school and is always eager when he gets to "ride the bus to Maddy's school." Here are their annual school pics: Jumping into 3rd Grade September We enjoyed a few adventures, from hiking, whale watching, and camping. We camped at our favorite spot along the Strait...

Cape Alava Camping Adventure!

We are definitely trying to make the most of our time in Washington and since the weather has been gradually warming up, with beautiful blue skies and sunshine, we cannot resist getting outside. And, because hiking is free and camping is pretty inexpensive, we have been doing A LOT of it lately. Granted, our excursion to Oregon was not cheap, it was still a pretty inexpensive weekend getaway and worth the drive! In her new hiking pack Cape Alava at high tide Crossing a bridge We discovered one place, though, called Cape Alava, via one of our trail/hiking books. We went out last weekend, and it is a good 3 mile hike to the coast, from Lake Ozette, and then another 3 mile hike back to the parking area, (so 6 round trip). The loop itself, to Sand Point, is 9 miles total. We got there when tide was fairly high, so we didn't travel down the coast too far, as you can make a complete loop (3 miles down the beach and then another 3 miles on a second trail, that splits at th...

For the future's not ours to see...

There is so much going on in our world today that is negative. I get irritated with watching the news and seeing such drama the media portrays. I never really paid that much attention to it until I had Madelynne and then everything changed about my perception of the world. It is scary, out there, when all you want to do is shelter and protect your little one. Maybe I am coming to the terms with growing older and realizing that life on this great planet is limited and to make the most of it. Being a SAH mom has really caused me to think and reflect on so many different things. It hasn’t always been sweet, happy thoughts, either. I know a few weeks ago I was really concerned for the end of the world and for my daughter and future generations that have to endure such drastic changes that will continue to occur over time. I find myself getting caught up with questions about my faith and my journey as a Christian and feeling lost and not knowing who to turn to or talk to about such conflict...
