"And it feels like summer..."

Now we're into the thick of it and things are rolling right along. We've had a mini heat wave (it was 86 this afternoon) and have enjoyed blue skies and summer sunshine. This gave Maddy and I the perfect opportunity to test out the pool (much warmer today than yesterday, for sure!), go on lengthy bike rides to the park for their free summer lunches, join friends at the Dungeness, pick strawberries at   Graysmarsh Farms , explore new beaches, and get signed up at the local library for their summer reading program. Jaxson had to deal with a dumb virus that basically had him down for a few days of nothing but Mr. Cuddles and Fever Breaker. But otherwise, here we are! This will probably be the last post until August, when we get back from our annual trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa. Looking forward to seeing them in a few short weeks. Tour de Forts

Before school let out last week, I made a playlist on my Spotify account devoted to summer tunes. I would play it during my planning time, while grading papers, and finishing up my yearly duties.  We started "summer" off with a fun bike ride excursion called the  Tour de Forts in Pt. Townsend on my birthday. They have different lengths you can choose to ride, but we opted for the 16 mile ride. The ride took us along the Larry Scott Trail, which will eventually meet up with the Olympic Discovery Trail  and be a complete bike riding path/trail that will span 130 miles from Pt. Townsend to the West End: La Push.  It was incredible and awesome. The prize at the end was some ice cream and hard cider. Finn River is an amazing cidery, named after one of my former students, and they have completely redone the tasting area and farm tour. It is entirely family friendly now. I can't wait to go back some time this summer and sit out on their patio while enjoying some live ...
