First Time Fishing

Madelynne has been dying to go fishing, ever since Grandma Sue bought her a fishing pole. Brad and I decided to find a place we could take her that could benefit all our adventurous appetities. We decided on a hike to Lena Lakes, which is a dog friendly trail. It was HOT. But it was well worth the journey. The end result is a beautiful mountain lake with endless rocky shoreline and a few campsites, which we discussed would be a nice place to backpack sometime. The trail was a moderate incline, switchbacks the majority of the way up, but it was all old growth forests with large boulders covered in moss and tall, endless pines. The dogs did not waste much time jumping into the lake as soon as we got to it, and we enjoyed some attempts to throw the line a few times, away from Noelle's ruckus of chasing after stick after stick. Proud of Madelynne for her first attempt to fish!

Cape Alava Camping Adventure!

We are definitely trying to make the most of our time in Washington and since the weather has been gradually warming up, with beautiful blue skies and sunshine, we cannot resist getting outside. And, because hiking is free and camping is pretty inexpensive, we have been doing A LOT of it lately. Granted, our excursion to Oregon was not cheap, it was still a pretty inexpensive weekend getaway and worth the drive! We went out last weekend, and it is a good 3 mile hike to the coast, from Lake Ozette, and then another 3 mile hike back to the parking area, (so 6 round trip). The loop itself, to Sand Point, is 9 miles total. Updates and Such

It's been sometime since I last updated the blog, but figured I better get on it. The school year is in full swing and we've been busy, as usual doing all the things we do between parenting, enjoying our weekends, and routine. No major projects are holding us back this year, so we've been trying to soak up every ounce of the ending seasons as we can. Fall was slow to start here, but her beauty and glory haven't left and I am sure will stick around well into November. That is the fortunate part of the PACNW. Here are the highlights up to this point: August Jax started Preschool and Maddy is in the 3rd grade. So far, they are doing well. Jax loves going to school and is always eager when he gets to "ride the bus to Maddy's school." Bearing With Me

We aren’t getting an opportunity to travel this summer, but we’re making the best of our staycation in beautiful Washington. Honestly, there is so much to explore in our state and even on our Peninsula, I don’t think we will ever be bored of finding something magical and interesting to see or do. Our family motto is, “it’s always an adventure” and sometimes, even the smallest adventure turns into a story of a lifetime. My daughter has been fascinated with the stars and space since she was five and wanted a telescope for her birthday one year. I suggested to her that we drive up Hurricane Ridge early morning to let me practice some astrophotography, as well as catch the sunrise.
