Two and a half

There's something special about a two-year-old and there seems to be even something more when it is your own child. Madelynne's personality is sassy, sincere, compassionate, expressive, and sweet. I see blends of both her father and I in every thing she does and says. Like when she gets mad, she huffs a bit, like I do sometimes. I see her carefree, humor that is like her father. She loves to dance...in fact, we dance a lot around our house. If there isn't music playing, she is creating her own. She makes up songs, she sings ones she knows, and she is imaginative and creative. I want to capture all these moments and treasure them safely in the back of my memory, because she is growing too fast. So here are a few timeless stories, and images, that have stood out this past month, as we get ready to celebrate two and a half.

Spooky! Uh-oh! Swiper! No swiping!

The coffee maker went off one morning and Madelynne said, "It's party time!".

One of her favorite shows is Bubble Guppies, and they have a song called "Time For Lunch". After we ask what time is it, she often says, "It's time for lunch." From the show. :)

What's that sound?

That one is my favorite.

I want some milk (mee-lk)

[Mama] She is my friend.

Uh-oh, monster coming. Oh no! A Bear!

Where did papa go?

P=papa was what she was calling grandpa and gramma. Always wants to talk to her grandma's.

In the middle of the night she cupped her hand around my face and said, "bless you" after I had a terrible coughing fit.

Twinkle-twinkle=stars

I want to see something.

And when they say the darnedest things...after Brad let one rip, Maddy looks at him and says, "Papa, you need to use the bathroom."

Updates and Such

It's been sometime since I last updated the blog, but figured I better get on it. The school year is in full swing and we've been busy, as usual doing all the things we do between parenting, enjoying our weekends, and routine. No major projects are holding us back this year, so we've been trying to soak up every ounce of the ending seasons as we can. Fall was slow to start here, but her beauty and glory haven't left and I am sure will stick around well into November. That is the fortunate part of the PACNW. Here are the highlights up to this point: August Jax started Preschool and Maddy is in the 3rd grade. So far, they are doing well. Jax loves going to school and is always eager when he gets to "ride the bus to Maddy's school." Here are their annual school pics: Jumping into 3rd Grade September We enjoyed a few adventures, from hiking, whale watching, and camping. We camped at our favorite spot along the Strait...

Cape Alava Camping Adventure!

We are definitely trying to make the most of our time in Washington and since the weather has been gradually warming up, with beautiful blue skies and sunshine, we cannot resist getting outside. And, because hiking is free and camping is pretty inexpensive, we have been doing A LOT of it lately. Granted, our excursion to Oregon was not cheap, it was still a pretty inexpensive weekend getaway and worth the drive! In her new hiking pack Cape Alava at high tide Crossing a bridge We discovered one place, though, called Cape Alava, via one of our trail/hiking books. We went out last weekend, and it is a good 3 mile hike to the coast, from Lake Ozette, and then another 3 mile hike back to the parking area, (so 6 round trip). The loop itself, to Sand Point, is 9 miles total. We got there when tide was fairly high, so we didn't travel down the coast too far, as you can make a complete loop (3 miles down the beach and then another 3 miles on a second trail, that splits at th...

For the future's not ours to see...

There is so much going on in our world today that is negative. I get irritated with watching the news and seeing such drama the media portrays. I never really paid that much attention to it until I had Madelynne and then everything changed about my perception of the world. It is scary, out there, when all you want to do is shelter and protect your little one. Maybe I am coming to the terms with growing older and realizing that life on this great planet is limited and to make the most of it. Being a SAH mom has really caused me to think and reflect on so many different things. It hasn’t always been sweet, happy thoughts, either. I know a few weeks ago I was really concerned for the end of the world and for my daughter and future generations that have to endure such drastic changes that will continue to occur over time. I find myself getting caught up with questions about my faith and my journey as a Christian and feeling lost and not knowing who to turn to or talk to about such conflict...
