Glittering Lights and Holiday Memories

This year, our holiday plans got a bit shuffled. We didn't make it to Indiana as we had hoped, so we stayed in Sequim. While I am fine with it just being my little tribe, it is always hard to be away from family during the holidays, whether that is Christmas or New Year's. What is worse is when social media shows you the plethora of family and friends all united and a tiny bit of myself feels jealous and left out. I know we chose to live here and I don't regret that choice by any means, but it still leaves my heart aching when the holiday season approaches, especially when we are unable to share it with those we love.

However, our kids had a great Christmas and watching them enjoy the magic behind it all was really exciting. We  met up with my cousin and his family in Seattle to enjoy Woodland Park Zoolights. Brad and I took the kids to enjoy the Children's Museum before that, which was a very fun day overall.

Christmas Eve we enjoyed our tradition of mass and dinner. Jax still doesn't quite get the whole thing, but he had fun getting new toys. His favorites were the trucks and cars, which he has not stopped playing with since he opened them. Madelynne has a variety of fun items that have kept her relatively occupied and her favorite was the American Girl doll Santa gave her.

Yet, despite all the gifts they received, the best part of Christmas was the white snow on the ground. It started snowing Christmas Eve and didn't let up until sometime in the early morning hours. Maddy didn't waste  second to get herself outside to sled down the hill and drag her brother around in the yard. I have to say it made me one happy camper to have a white Christmas, as well.

The remaining days of our break were spent enjoying the outdoors. The kids both got new rainboots from Santa, so we tested those out. Then, Saturday we ventured to the coast to enjoy some nice weather and a small hike to the beach. There is something magical about the beach and the ocean, the way it speaks to your soul and sings to your heart. It never gets old, really.

We rang in the New Year by playing games and watching Cool Runnings until the break of midnight. Now, we're back to reality. Maddy went back to school today. I have until Thursday, so Jax and I hung out today together. Earlier this month the kids enjoyed multiple birthday parties, Maddy's Christmas concert, and a Daddy Daughter Dance Fundraiser put on by her school. We also ventured up to Hurricane Ridge to enjoy some snowshoeing.

To Infinite...AKA Oregon...and Beyond!

If you ever go on a vacation with us, just note...it is always an adventure. Seriously, have not had a ton of time to get myself back into fast-forward mode, as I call it, let alone, really delve in and cull through all the images & video I took. However, here is a recap of our break with our wonderful friends/second a family, The Phillips. We left for McMinnville, Oregon, on Saturday April 1. Of course, Google decided to detour us to whatever little town in North Portland to bypass an accident on I-5, which only caused aggravation. We tried finding food  off an exit that was non-existent. Let's just say, this was super annoying. But we managed, arrived, and celebrated with lunch and then the Water Park: Our first stop.  Because they have an air museum, why not have an air themed waterpark! We had a cabana with prime viewing of the San Diego State win during the Final Four NCAA Championship Jax had a blast The second day we enjoyed the Evergreen Aviation Museum. I have always

Final Summer Adventure: Iceland 2019

Instagram definitely has a way of enticing the hungriest of the wanderers to explore the various bucket list places. Iceland has been one of those for me since I watched an enticing video from a friend and was immediately set on going there. When, how, and what we would do was all under speculation, but once I set it on my vision/prayer board and started planning, the dream became a reality and here we are, in 2019, recapping a family adventure that was well worth the expense. A few notes about our trip before I take you on a picturesque journey of some of our favorite stops. If you’re planning your own Icelandic adventure, do note that gas is not cheap. It is the one thing that put us over budget, and something we didn’t plan enough for. So while cheap flights look appealing, do your research! Food is also equally expensive, however, we did budget for that! We even had a bag left over at the end of our trip, which we happily donated to the Kuku Campers reuse shelf.  Being

The Emerald Isle: The Middle

WICKLOW MOUTAINS AND GLENDALOUGH After our first initial stay in Dublin, we ventured south en route to our vacation rental which was near Cork. I wanted to see Glendalough Valley and the monastic ruins that have been there since the 6 th century. We got our first initial taste of “white knuckle” driving that everyone warned us about. Skinny, one lane roads with either old stone walls bordering each side of the road or overgrown, green foliage…it was a bit insane. Not to mention, the mountain passes were curvy and unforgiving. One local told us that to put the speed sign of 100k right before a bend was like the road was coaxing you, daring you to drive that fast. Many one lane bridges Ireland roads Glendalough was beautiful with historic and old ruins, two beautiful lakes, and expansive hiking trails. Old, Celtic cross tombstones and tight fitting graves dotted the landscape next to the monastery and tower. We saw our first deer here, so we high-fived at spotting wil
