A Day in the Life of a Toddler

Since coming home from Colorado, our life has been back to routine and enjoying the last few weeks before I have to go back to to work and our summer's turn into fall. It's already starting to become somewhat fall-ish, as the leaves are already beginning to change on many of the trees. I keep thinking it's too early...but then again, as dry and cool as it has been, it doesn't surprise me. So, Maddy and I have kept busy, enjoying our time together. Here is a day in the life of Madelynne at age two. Hours playing in the sand  Picking flowers Camping and dinners with friends One word: Dora (Go-Go) Riding her trike Sprinklers Water Table "Babies" Reading, reading, and more reading Arts and Crafts Swimming at the lake

Transitioning Two's

Dear Madelynne: Today you celebrate another wonderful year of life and it has been exciting and packed with new experiences and growth that are remarkable because of you! Your vocabulary has gone beyond more than just simple syllables like "da" to two-word sentences, like "I see!" or "I get!" Some favorite phrases I have documented are:  "My hair!" "I see ya!" "Day-day (Damion) here?" "I can't." "Oh, man!" (Thanks to Dora) "Where'd it go?"  "Gank-you" (or an equivalent to gi-gi which is also "thank you") "Yeah..." (in a questioning tone, amused, or matter of fact) "Go-go and Boo!" (Dora and Boots) "I help." "Eat!" "One, two..." "High five!" "Frog! Baby! Puppy! Kit Cat! Blankie!" (all your favorite lovies) There are some things that we can't exactly understand, and the frustratio...

This Girl is My World

She is almost two. Her vocabulary blows me away. She is strong-willed, gaining independence, and more than just my little baby anymore. She's full blown toddler, smart, keeps me on my toes, and makes me smile every day. What a blessing she is...whether it's gearing up for her 2nd 4th of July... Or relaxing at the pool, Cheesing it up for the camera,  Or pretending to be too cool.  Getting her hair styled, Or napping with her "friends",  Having a tough day, the story never ends.  Reaching a new milestone,  Riding a train for the first time,  Helping mommy cook.  Licking the spoon clean, tastes so divine.  Enjoying her first Ball Game, Never letting froggy go, Being disgruntled or defiant,  Or needing help to go. Being silly like her cousin, Lost in slumber, escaping in dreams, Playing the sprinklers on a hot afternoon, And exploring the world...
